The One Step Most "Organic" Farms Skip

Good morning Family Cow Tribe!
Last week, I shared the big picture of our Real-Food Network. We farm the land, graze the animals, bottle the milk, and harvest the meat ourselves. Real means real from start to finish.
Today, let's focus on just one of our farm's 10 Core Differences for how we can assure your real food purity.
We grow our own crops to avoid fraudulent imports and chemical exposure. It's the only way you can eat with confidence.

Many farms skip this 'grow-your-own-crops' step because it is extremely difficult and expensive. Instead, they buy government-subsidized feed on the open market. Maybe it's GMO-free, but not chemical-free... or maybe it's certified organic, but still possibly contaminated with fraud.
Below is just one example of major "organic grain fraud" exposed right here in the USA... after it had gone on for 7 years.
In the Randy Constant $120 million case, the U.S. Attorney's Office said, "Because of Constant's fraud, most of the livestock that was fed his grain was not organic, causing thousands of consumers to purchase what they thought was organic meat for a premium price across the country."
This is why our family has taken the critical crop work into our own hands. It is the most difficult part of our regenerative farm—but well worth it to ensure your food purity.
My brothers, Winfred and Roland, are dedicated to raising the specialty grains our soy & corn-FREE chickens, turkeys, and pigs require in addition to harvesting our grass hay for the winter.
Yup, this isn't just a grain thing. Grass-fed cattle need to eat even when snow is on the ground. Here's a photo story to show how we harvest grass hay each summer to grass-feed our cows year-round.

We don't share this all to brag about our accomplishments or make other farms look bad. 10 years ago we bought most of our feed just like them. I'm grateful we are here now, but if we had known the difficult journey ahead, we may have lacked the courage to begin.
Why all the effort to ensure Chemical-Free crops?
You are what you eat… AND you are what your food eats.
If you want to enjoy Real Food, we first need to steward the very soil where it all begins. We give back to the earth. We grow cover crops, fertilize with rich compost, and build organic matter.
Not only does this avoid chemicals, but it also boosts soil health, which increases the nutritional value of the plants, the livestock eating them, and finally the nutrition of the very food on your plate.
No Chemicals. No GMOs. Nothing but our regenerative organic farm land producing real foods so your family can thrive.
Here's the Line to Remember
"The Family Cow doesn't just avoid GMOs—they grow their own feed to personally ensure their livestock are chemical-free."
That's the difference between a grocery store label you hope is true, and a farmer you know is true.
